On April 8, 2021,on the Pulte Family Foundation Campus at the Central Broward location of Henderson in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The opening of the CSU was kicked-off with an official ribbon cutting ceremony that the Leo Goodwin Foundation was grateful to participate in.
The Leo Goodwin Foundation helped launch the initial fundraising campaign with a $250,000 donation for construction of the new state-of-the-art Crisis Stabilization Unit. The Leo Goodwin Foundation has been a long-time supporter of HBH, having spearheaded a challenge grant for the New Vistas Adult Outpatient and Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Youth and Family Services Outpatient and Clinical Services back in 2008.

The Foundation is privileged to support Henderson’s new Crisis Stabilization Unit and help provide the necessary resources they need to continue to grow the number of people they touch and expand their services to those in need.” The Leo Goodwin Foundation’s name is proudly and prominently displayed in the new CSU lobby.
Henderson Behavioral Health has enhanced their acute care services with the opening of this new Crisis Stabilization Unit. By doing so, they will be better able to serve the community that has come to depend on them for support for many years. Their new Crisis Stabilization Unit has 48 beds to manage the volume of people who are experiencing a mental health crisis. Henderson is meeting a critical need in our community by opening this new CSU where they can admit, stabilize and redirect individuals who need a safe, secure environment that is less restrictive than a hospital. Upon discharge from their CSU, individuals will then continue to access the myriad of services that Henderson offers.
Henderson continues to be at the forefront of providing services to our community and has done so for the past 68 years. In fact, with more than 700 employees and an economic impact on the community of more than $100 million, Henderson is one of the county’s largest employers. They estimate that in their 68-year history that they have helped approximately one million people.
Mental health touches all our lives. Now more than ever, it is imperative that expert, compassionate and hopeful mental health services are readily available.
